Each member of the team works closely together, to ensure every piece of jewellery we create is even more exquisite than the last.

Transparency is at the heart of our ethos, and we’ll never push a sale that’s beyond your budget. Working out how to get the best stone for your budget is what our gemmologists are trained to do, meanwhile our design experts work tirelessly to perfect each design. Every ring design is scrutinised, to ensure the ring will be both beautiful and practical, before it even enters our in-store workshop, where our expert jewellers finally build, craft and finesse your bespoke ring.

If you’re planning on coming into the store, we strongly recommend you schedule an appointment ahead of time. This also allows us time to source the best selection of diamonds and gemstones for your requirements. As the store does tend to get busy, booking an appointment means you'll avoid the disappointment of not being able to be seen straight away. We can often take same day appointments, but most of our clients prefer to book in advance - just get in touch and let us know when you'd like to come in.

At Crown Diamond, we’re proud supporters of the Kimberley Process, a UN initiative to diminish the trade of unethical or ‘blood’ diamonds. The Kimberley Process outlaws the trade of diamonds from war-torn countries and means that countries, such as the UK, have a very strict set of rules to comply with in regards to rough diamond transportation. Thanks to the Kimberley Process, now 99% of diamonds in the global trade have been ethically mined and are conflict free.

We only source diamonds from suppliers that comply with the standards of the Kimberley Process. As well as whole-heartedly supporting the Kimberley Process we make sure to only source our diamonds from the most transparent, trustworthy and established global suppliers.

All of our diamonds are graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the strictest and most trusted name in diamond grading. Purchasing a GIA graded diamond ensures you’re getting what you paid for, and not paying over the odds for a diamond that isn’t of as high quality as its grading might suggest.

It’s a little difficult to know which country your diamond originated from. During the transportation of rough diamonds, a certificate for each stone must be produced to ensure it is not a blood diamond, as per the Kimberley Process. Once the ethically-sourced diamond has been cut, however, it becomes difficult to trace the origins of the stone. Some stones, including coloured gemstones, show certain characteristics that tie them to certain geographical locations. Most of the world’s diamonds, however, are produced by mining countries such as Australia, Russia and South Africa.

We specialise in bridal jewellery, meaning most of the jewellery we make are either engagement rings or wedding bands. Our goldsmiths and jewellery designers are, however, an incredibly talented team, and are able to make exquisite earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets and so on.

After creating an engagement ring with us, we usually find our clients come straight back for their wedding rings. It can also be a lovely sentiment to create anniversary or special occasion jewellery with the same goldsmiths that created your engagement ring.

Yes. You can select the design you like, choose the metal colour and ring size, and select your centre diamond. 40 Day Free Returns:

We accept returns, eligible for a full refund when returned within 40 days of delivery/collection. This returns policy is limited to a) all items where the diamond is priced below £25,000 excluding VAT (items above this threshold subject to refund within 7 days of delivery) b) items that have not been customised from their original state as displayed on the website.

While we do offer all customers free shipping when delivering your order, we kindly ask you to cover the shipping charge when returning to us.

To be eligible for a refund the customer must initiate the return within 40 days and must return it within one week of notifying us. Therefore, the item must be returned no later than 47 days after the delivery date, in its unworn and original condition without any damage, and with all accompanying documents and materials.

Our production team will review the returned item. Items that show signs of wear or have been altered, resized (by a jeweller other than Crown Diamond), or damaged, are unable to be returned.

In the unlikely event that the item turns out to be faulty or different to the customer’s order, Crown Diamond will repair or replace the item free of charge or refund the item in full. The item should be returned to Crown Diamond prior to replacement, repair or refund.

Non-refundable Items:

There are some items that are not be eligible for returns or refunds. Please contact your consultant or info@crowndiamond.co.uk quoting your order number to confirm whether your item is eligible.

Unless otherwise explicitly stated, exclusions to our 40-days returns policy are bespoke commissions and personalised or engraved items. For hygiene reasons we are also unable to accept returns of pierced jewellery such as earrings. All Refunds are subject to the item being returned unworn, unused and undamaged and in saleable condition.

Improperly & inadequately packaged returns will be refused. Returns with missing paperwork (including the GIA report) or product(s) may not be processed. If applicable, we reserve the right to deduct a £250 fee from your refund in order to replace any missing diamond or gemstone grading certificates.

If you return your order and exchange it for another ring, the second ring is non-returnable, unless the reason for returning is a manufacturing issue.

Returns can be made in person, or via delivery. To return an item in person, please book an appointment. For returns via delivery, we ask you follow these important steps to return your Crown Diamond purchase.

1) Email us on info@crowndiamond.co.uk, call us on +44 1273 732143 or contact your consultant directly to discuss your return. You must do this before returning your item.

2) When confirmed with your Crown Diamond point of contact, you should package your item with original packaging. This must include your GIA/diamond grading certificate.

3) You should avoid writing anything on the package or within the address that alludes to the value of the package contents, including ‘Crown Diamond’, ‘jewellers’ or ‘diamonds’. Instead address the package as follows: ‘“name of your consultant”, 8 Union Street, East Sussex, Brighton, BN1 1HA’

4) We ask you return items within the UK via Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, making sure the package is tracked. You should also obtain proof of posting. For orders returned from outside the UK, you should choose a reputable courier of your choice, ensuring the package is tracked, and obtain proof of packaging.

Crown Diamond reserves the right to reject a return if the above steps are not carefully followed, and is therefore not liable to repair, replace or refund the item.

Your Crown Diamond ring will usually take between 2-4 weeks to be crafted, although this depends on the design, and your consultant will be able to inform you of your exact due date. Some rings can be made in shorter time frames. Once the ring is completed, we will send your order via Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed (Next Day Service) and FedEx Priority Service, both tracked and signed for, for proof of delivery. Please allow time for Sundays and Bank Holidays, which may disrupt delivery services.

Deliveries are fully insured against losses, damages and theft in transit. Once you receive your delivery, however, it becomes your responsibility to insure your jewellery. We recommend you do this as soon as the ring is in your possession.

This is unlikely, and not something we have experienced before. The packaging we use for deliveries is discreet, and we do not write phrases such as ‘Crown Diamond’ or ‘jewellers’, for security and discretion purposes. We wouldn’t want to ruin any surprises!

We offer lifetime complimentary polishing, cleaning and check-over services for jewellery made by Crown Diamond. We recommend having your ring cleaned and inspected every year or if it undergoes any potential trauma. Inspections may help prevent the loss of a stone and extend the lifespan of your jewellery. This polishing, cleaning and inspection service is free of charge to all UK based Crown Diamond customers on their Crown Diamond jewellery.

Diamonds are oleophilic, meaning they attract grease and oils, and can appear grubby or dull when exposed to hand creams, moisturisers, cooking oils and so on. A quick clean will sort this out in no time!

You can clean your ring as often as you see fit, using hot water and Fairy liquid. Use a toothbrush to gently clean around diamonds and gemstones.

We welcome you to bring your Crown Diamond jewellery in store as often as you like, where we can give your ring a complimentary ultrasonic and steam clean. When you bring your ring into the store, we’ll also advise if it is due for a polish.

Regretfully we do not currently offer finance, but we do have plans to introduce this in the coming months. To get the ring into production a 25% deposit is required. Then the rest of the payment can be made either in instalments up until the collection of the ring or in full when you collect. Whilst this option is not available online, we are able to cater for this manually - please email info@crowndiamond.co.uk, or call us on +44 1273 732143 to place your order.

Whilst our rings usually take between 2 to 4 weeks to craft, we can keep your order in our safes until you are ready to collect and pay the full amount.

If you are looking to spread payments over a slightly longer term, some of our clients choose to apply for one of the many interest free credit card deals currently available, setting up a standing order to settle the balance. Whilst we don't encourage debt, this may be an option you choose to explore.

Yes, but you’ll need to place your order over the phone or in person.

All our prices include value added tax (VAT). The UK VAT Retail Export Scheme allows the VAT amount to be reimbursed to customers when they purchase goods from within the European Union and export them outside thereafter. The customer must make the purchase in person and complete the form at the retailer’s premises in full to be eligible.

If you live outside the European Union you can reclaim UK sales tax (VAT) for things you buy when visiting Britain. There are some exceptions to this including unmounted gemstones. Crown Diamond can only process a VAT refund if it has been stamped at the VAT refund desk and via the original method of payment; we will let you know when we have processed the refund.

Prices are subject to change, as per the fluctuations of the diamond and metal markets. Once an order has been placed, the price will not change.

The UN define blood or conflict diamonds as "diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognised governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council."

Simply put, a blood diamond is a diamond that has been mined and illegally traded to fund rebel fighters and insurgencies. The trade of blood diamonds fund and prolong these illegitimate wars and violence.

At Crown Diamond, we do not support the mining or trade of blood diamonds. When established legally and legitimately, diamond mining industries are hugely beneficial to local economies, encouraging both economic and social development; funding schools, funding infrastructure, establishing trade relationships, and so on. Crown Diamond are proud to be a part of an industry that harbours legitimate and fair growth, and support the UN's Kimberley Process initiative, which puts a total ban on the international trade of conflict or blood diamonds. We only work with the most transparent and internationally respect diamond suppliers.

Yes. Whilst 99% of natural diamonds in the global diamond trade have been ethically sourced, you may feel more comfortable purchasing a lab grown diamond. Lab grown diamonds are still considered diamonds - they are structurally the same, made of the same compounds and look exactly the same. The natural growth of a diamond is simulated under lab conditions, using intense pressure and heat. The only way a natural and lab grown diamond can be told apart is using sophisticated machines like DiamondSure and DiamondView, which uses UV radiation to essentially scan the diamond for tell tale signs it has been formed in a lab - traits the naked eye could not see.

Lab grown diamonds certainly have their benefits - you can guarantee your diamond will be ethically produced, and the price of lab grown diamonds can be around 30% cheaper than naturally grown diamonds. They can, however, be less aesthetically ideal. Natural diamonds take millions of years to form in the Earth’s crust, whilst lab grown diamonds are produced in a number of days - the quick process can cause the lab grown gems to pick up more undesirable traits, such as yellow tints and small marks, or ‘inclusions’. Relatively new to the market, the future value of lab grown diamonds is uncertain - industry experts are currently unsure if lab grown diamonds will hold their value in the same way natural diamonds have.

Depending on the complexity of the design, it usually takes around 3 to 4 weeks for a ring to be crafted. This is because we finesse each detail, and want to make sure each ring is of the highest quality. We recommend you order your ring 6 weeks in advance of when you’ll need it, just to be sure it’ll be finished in time but rest assured, we have never missed a deadline to date!

Upon ordering your ring, you will be notified of its due date. When the ring is finished, we will contact you to let you know. Keeping your engagement ring the surprise of a lifetime is hugely important to you and us. We’re always discreet with our communication, and tend to communicate via emails. Because of this, you may wish to provide an email address that your partner doesn’t have access to (and make sure our emails won’t pop up on any shared devices!).

We always use discreet packaging when delivering an engagement ring, and never use our branding on the exterior of the package. You may also feel more comfortable having your package delivered to a secure, alternative address, such as your place of work. If this is something you want to discuss further, please contact your consultant to arrange.

For us to resize the ring appropriately, we’ll need to know your (or your partner's) correct size. You can either book an appointment for us to size in store, or could have the ring size taken at another jewellers nearer your location, and let us know. Please note that measurements taken elsewhere may be inaccurate, so if possible, we advise you visit Crown Diamond in person.

Yes, we have a couple of options to choose from. Our larger box may be more suitable for wedding bands, there is enough space for two wedding rings to sit alongside each other. Our smaller box is a much more discreet option, suitable for surprise proposals - it’s easy to slip into your pocket until the big moment!

The girdle of each GIA diamond is laser inscribed with a unique number to ensure the stone’s identification. This can be verified by the certificate that will accompany your diamond. This laser inscription is so small that it is not visible to the naked eye, but can be viewed under 50x magnification.

We recommend that you don’t take your ring to any other jewellers than Crown Diamond, as they may not be trustworthy and this may interfere with your lifetime warranty. In the event that you do, you should always double check your GIA number when leaving a diamond with someone else, and check this upon collection of your diamond.

Each and every diamond is intrinsically different from the next, and the diamonds you see in stores or people’s jewellery will have all have their unique value determined by the 4 Cs. The 4 Cs - cut, clarity, colour and carat - are what determine the quality and value of a diamond. Understanding the 4Cs is important when it comes to optimising your budget.

At Crown Diamond our focus is on premium cut diamonds. To give you complete confidence, our stones are graded and certified according to the Gemological Institute of America's strict ‘4Cs’ framework.

Choosing which diamond characteristics to prioritise is a personal choice, but with years of experience, our certified Gemologists have some pretty handy tips. We usually recommend that ‘cut’ is the most important of the 4Cs.

The cut refers to the precise angles and sizes of each facet, rather than the shape of the diamond. As light enters the top of the diamond (the table), it will refract into its spectral colours and reflect back out the crown facets. The more precise and symmetrical the cut of the diamond, the sparklier it is. ‘Colour’ is acknowledged as the second most important diamond characteristic and refers to the yellow tint running through most diamonds. We consider cut and colour to be important as they are the most visible characteristics to the naked eye.

Diamonds are the hardest gemstone in the world, meaning they are resistant to scratching and chipping, therefore are the most suitable for everyday wear, reaching 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Sapphires and rubies follow shortly, graded 9 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Emeralds can make for beautiful engagement rings, but are somewhat softer, therefore more prone to scratching and chipping. If you’re concerned about finding the right colour gemstone, both coloured diamonds and sapphires can be found in almost every colour of the rainbow - so we suggest sticking to these particularly tough gemstones!

We’re a trustworthy lot at Crown Diamond, but you don’t just have to take our word for it. We only sell GIA certified diamonds, all of which are laser inscribed with a minute, unique code that it used to identify each and every diamond. This is only visible under 50x magnification, but when viewed under a microscope can be clearly viewed. We will inform you of your diamond’s GIA number upon purchase, and show this to you using our microscope. We will show you this upon any subsequent visit to the store, which can be verified alongside your GIA certificate.

We implore you do not lose your GIA certificate, as it is a costly and lengthy process for you to replace it, and will include dismantling your ring and sending the loose stone to the GIA grading lab in the USA to be regraded.

You can ensure the diamond you purchase from Crown Diamond is real and natural, as the GIA don’t prodive synthetic diamonds with certifications. As we only sell GIA certified diamonds, you can be sure your Crown Diamond diamond is natural.

Whilst we have a catalogue of existing designs online and in store, we still make every ring from scratch. After all, it’s nice to know the ring was made for one person and one person only. This allows you to make design alterations, to select your own diamond or gemstone, and for the ring to be tailor made.

Our rings usually take between 3 to 4 weeks for make, because they are crafted from scratch. If a ring is needed in a shorter time frame, we may be able to produce the ring more quickly depending on the schedule of our goldsmiths and production team. In the past, we have also been able to loan a ring for the proposal whilst the actual engagement ring is being made. Crown Diamond creates bespoke jewellery, with an inhouse team of design consultants, gemmologists and goldsmiths. Because of this, we are able to make pretty much any custom ring design. Our design experts will provide all the advice you need to make the best decisions and help you produce a ring that is both beautiful and suitable for everyday wear.

If you have found a diamond or gemstone you like, but aren’t 100% sure yet, you can place a 2 week holding deposit on the stone. The £200 holding fee is fully refundable if you do not wish to go ahead with the purchase. You can place a holding deposit on multiple stones, for £200 per stone. It can sometimes take a small amount of time for our inventory to update. In the rare occasion that the stone you selected is no longer available for purchase, we will contact you as quickly as possible, and find you the best alternative.

In some instances, we are able to set a stone you may already have, such as a family heirloom diamond. On occasion, however, stones may not be in the best condition. If you’re interested in setting a stone you already have, please contact our gemmologists by calling +44 1273 732143 during our open hours or emailing info@crowndiamond.co.uk. Our gemmologists will need to check the suitability of the stone before we can commit to resetting.

We also discourage you from buying diamonds from potentially untrustworthy sources. We have experienced a number of instances where clients have asked us to set a diamond purchased elsewhere, which fails to meet the grading it has been assigned. In such cases, the client has often paid over the odds for a diamond that doesn’t live up to its grade on paper.

We charge a handling, insurance & setting fee to set diamonds and gemstones purchased from elsewhere. This depends on the size, quality and value of the stone, and starts from £300. Another popular option is to select and propose with a loose diamond. We think this is a super romantic way to propose, as you’ve put the time and thought into choosing a diamond, and then can return with your partner to design the ring together.

The most common engravings are names, initials and important dates, such as the date a couple met. We have, however, had more unusual requests, such as emojis and personal fingerprints. Whatever you may choose, we recommend you keep it short and sweet, as the size of the ring very much limits the size of an engraving.

Our design experts will provide all the advice you need to make the best decisions and help you produce the ring that is both beautiful and suitable for everyday wear. On rare occasions, we might advise against certain designs. In which case, we’ll work with you to create an alternative.

We make rings in 18ct yellow gold, 18ct rose gold, 18ct white gold and platinum - the choice of which is up to you. White gold is a buttery-yellow tone, so is plated in rhodium to produce a brighter silver colour. This rhodium wears away over time, revealing a yellowish tint. Platinum, on the other hand, remains a bright, silver colour.

When choosing a rose gold or yellow gold setting, you may want to consider using platinum for the claws of the ring. The yellow and pink tints of rose and yellow gold may be picked up by the diamond, meaning it won’t look as bright and white as possible. This is, however, totally up to you.

We can certainly help. With years of experience in crafting custom engagement rings, we know a thing or two about design. You’ll need to bring us a few ideas of what you like, to get the ball rolling - try looking at Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration.

We usually advise you start with the shape of diamond you want, and whether you want a solitaire, halo or trilogy ring. From there, we can help you build a custom design. You may find a face-to-face consultation with one of our experts beneficial, to discuss your ideas in person.
